Quartz is one of the most popular materials for countertops. Quartz countertops are scratch, stain, heat and impact resistant and are available in a wide variety of colors and styles. Quartz offers high durability, low maintenance and a wide range of color to choose from. Quartz is an engineered stone material that does not need to be sealed and requires no maintenance.

Quartz vs. Quartzite Countertops

Quartzite is a natural stone, but generally only comes in a little number of colors- primarily white and gray tones. Quartzite DOES need to be sealed to prevent staining, but is extremely heat resistant.

Quartz is an engineered stone available in many different colors and styles. While quartz is considered to have good heat resistance, it is slightly less heat resistant than natural stone.

The cost is generally about the same for quartz or quartzite but depends greatly on the style.
